When our Lord revealed to St. Gertrude the prayer which He promised will release 1000 souls each time it is said, He also gave us, His Church, an amazing weapon to use in His plan of salvation. What an awesome grace to be invited to participate in His plan of salvation through prayer! But also, what a great responsibility -- "To those whom much has been given, much will be asked."
The Mission To Empty Purgatory is a collection of ordinary people like you who are devoted to saying the prayer of St. Gertrude the Great for the Holy Souls in Purgatory. Our objective is to say one of these prayers for every 1000 souls ever created, thereby ensuring that Purgatory is emptied. This is MTEP's only reason for existence. MTEP's site has no advertisements, we sell nothing, and accept no donations. What we do need is your assistance by praying St. Gertrude's prayer for the Holy Souls in Purgatory and then pledging your prayers to the total prayers said.
This is one way in which you can become a missionary without having to leave your home -- and what an important mission! Imagine if you saw a person in terrible suffering, perhaps dying of thirst or with their clothes on fire, and you had the ability to give them water to drink or immediately douse the fire.............who would not rush to this person's aid? Imagine now the agony of a Soul in Purgatory -- St. Thomas Aquinas teaches "...the slightest contact with the fire of Purgatory is more dreadful than all the possible sufferings of this Earth." Will you rush to this Soul's aid by saying this prayer, this amazing gift which God has given each and every one of us?
Please Do!
Please pledge the prayers you say to the MTEP total. This process is totally anonymous and does not require any registration, email address, or divulging personal information. We just need your prayers!! Please pledge your prayers regularly and see how we progress together toward our goal.
Thank you and God Bless!
