It would be so easy to empty Purgatory if everyone took to heart the plight of the Holy Souls in Purgatory. Thank you for taking the Cure d'Ars up on his challenge: "Yet how quickly we could empty Pugatory if we but really wished to."
Here are some things YOU can do to spread devotion to releasing souls from Purgatory:
Pray at least one decade of Saint Gertrude's prayer (it will take about 3 minutes) ever day and pledge the total prayers completed each week (it is so encouraging to see our target getting closer). If every Catholic alive today said only one of these prayers, Purgatory would be instantly emptied.
Please print as many prayer cards as you can and distribute them to friends and leave them with the literature in your Church. Feel free to print them from here or copy them into your publishing program to edit and print.
Please ask your Parish Priest to review this site. Ask him if he would consider encouraging this devotion through announcements or the news letters.
Please ask your Parish Priest if he would consider saying this prayer with the congregation during the general intercessions at Mass (it will take less than 20 seconds and will release many hundreds of thousands of souls). Prayer cards could be attached inside the cover of the Missalette for the congregation to follow the prayer.
Please ask your Parish Priest to consider holding a "Mission To Empty Purgatory." This could take the form of a Saturday morning dedicated to Eucharistic adoration, Praying St. Gertrude's Prayer, and listening to Speakers on Purgatory and the importance of praying for the Holy Souls there. This is especially appropriate during the month of November.
